Don't Miss the New Online Advent Calendar on HIV

23. November 2010

On World AIDS Day, the EAA will launch its "Live the Promise!" Advent Calendar on HIV and AIDS.  Written by a diverse cross-section of Christians from around the globe, these devotions on faith and current HIV issues will lead readers in daily Biblical reflection and prayer up to Christmas in both Western and Eastern traditions.

The calendar recognizes that, since AIDS was identified in the early 1980s, the joy of advent has contrasted sharply with the reality of the pandemic that has meant daily tragedy and challenge for individuals and communities around the world. However, it also acknowledges the many courageous responses and leadership, full of compassion and grace, that this global context has inspired. Therefore, by exploring the hope and expectation of advent amidst the poverty, violence and injustice of the world, the calenda aims to stir people of faith to reflect upon and re-commit to living out God's promise that all might have abundant life.
