Action Alert: Faith Zone at AIDS 2012 - Creative Ideas Needed!

4. May 2012

Faith Zone at AIDS 2012 - Creative Ideas Needed!

Hoping to share what your faith community has been doing to respond to HIV at the upcoming International AIDS Conference in Washington DC from 22-27 July? Then don’t miss the chance to be an active part of the Faith Zone in the Global Village at AIDS 2012!

The Faith Zone – that will share its space with the Caregivers Zone - will provide an inclusive, innovative and informative space where faith-based visitors can exchange ideas and experiences, and where all visitors to the Global Village can experience the breadth and depth of faith communities’ work in response to HIV.

Unlike other parts of AIDS 2012, the Global Village is open to the general public as well as AIDS 2012 participants and is expected to attract thousands of visitors each day. It is therefore vital that the Faith Zone is as creative, as interactive and as lively as possible.

There will be a podium for various events and speakers, as well as space for displaying materials. In addition, there will be comfy sofas for networking and relaxing. Therefore, if you have a creative idea for an event, including music, workshops, music, food, dance, theatre, publication launches, videos and much more, then the Faith Zone is for you! There will also be space to display materials, so if you have a poster or other publications that help to showcase faith-based work on HIV then please consider applying too.

Download the call for proposals from www.iacfaith.net/interfaith, and send your filled out form to preconference@e-alliance.ch by May 25 2012.

Was your faith-based abstract to AIDS 2012 accepted?

The EAA has been invited by the International AIDS Society to provide a faith-based Road Map for the main conference. This will be available via the official online program at www.aids2012.org. Please send us details of events that you will be holding as part of the official AIDS 2012 program so that we can include them in the Road Map. In particular, please notify us of abstracts, posters and other events, such as satellite events, that you have had accepted for the main conference. Send the title, date, time, place and short description of your event (max. 50 words) to preconference@e-alliance.ch by 15 June.

If your abstract was not accepted, why not consider adapting it so that it can be considered as an event for the Faith Zone in the Global Village instead?
