The Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance seeks the active participation of churches, church-related organizations and Christian organizations in common advocacy efforts that include:
- developing a campaign framework at the international level;
- carrying out local, regional and global campaign actions;
- sharing resource material, analysis, and information on national and international advocacy efforts;
- coordinating efforts at major international conferences on food and HIV and AIDS;
- selecting events and issues in which the EAA takes a leading role in coordinating joint advocacy.
Joining takes just a few simple steps:
Step 1.
Review the Statutes which describe the purpose and structure of the Alliance. In addition, the Covenant for Action gives further background on how you can join these efforts, and the biblical and ethical themes that are the basis of this Alliance.
Step 2.
Read the Guiding Principles for the work of the Alliance. If you can support them, you are welcome to sign them and indicate your interest in joining the Alliance.
Step 3.
Determine how you can support the Alliance.
All churches and organizations that choose to be members of the Alliance should:
- engage actively in the work of the Alliance through advocacy efforts
- support the work of the Alliance with financial and other resources.
As a basic guidance for the support of members in the Alliance, an annual membership contribution of 900 CHF towards the core budget is required. If a church or organization has limited resources and is based in the Global South, they may contribute an amount of 450 CHF. Similarly, a church or organization with greater resources may contribute more.
Members unable to provide direct financial support to the EAA will be asked to identify specific services addressed in the EAA budget (such as translation or regional representation) that they will provide as an in-kind contribution.
We hope you will also consider other ways to share resources in support of the work of the Alliance. These may include: hosting a meeting, contributing research and analysis on issues, seconding staff, developing resource materials for the Alliance, and many other means of support.
Step 4.
As your church or organization begins to participate in the work of the Alliance, we want to make sure we know how to reach you and the key people who relate to advocacy and your work on food and on HIV and AIDS.
