Action Alert: Contribute to publication on Theology, Human Rights and HIV

11. July 2012

The EAA is planning to publish a compilation of reflections on Theology, Human Rights and the HIV Response, and invites you to share your personal experiences, challenges and/or achievements in the HIV response, from a human rights and faith-based perspective.

The proposal for this publication follows the EAA’s consultation on Theology, Human Rights and HIV that was held in November 2011, during which 30 experts in the fields of theology, ethics, human rights and HIV explored the intersections between Christian theology and human rights in the context of the global response to the ongoing HIV pandemic. The consultation provided a “safe space” for open reflection and frank dialogue on the complementary as well as distinctive approaches to addressing issues of justice and vulnerability with regard to HIV from Christian theological/ethical and human rights perspectives. Through the prism of practical engagement in the HIV response, participants sought to examine afresh the challenges and opportunities for building bridges between faith and human rights discourses. The compilation, which will be comprised of academic articles, experience-based reflections, essays, anecdotes, interactive dialogues in written form, and other contributions, aims to continue, broaden and strengthen this process of reflection and dialogue.

Anyone interested in contributing to this publication is requested to first submit an initial abstract of no more than 300 words by 3 September 2012.
